Latest Report: Due to recent threat, Georgia school system on lockdown

SHARE

This story is not fully confirmed as the school officials said they were not sure of the threat's validity.

On Thursday, a threat to a north Georgia elementary school led the district to place all four of its schools on lockdown for safety purpose.

The Cartersville City Schools posted a message on its website to the general public that a decision has been made, after Cartersville Elementary School was threatened. They added that they didn't know the validity of the threat at the time and were allowing law enforcement to investigate this.
The school system later announced it would be proceeding with dismissal but with police present. The lockdown also forced the schools to dismiss later than usual.
The school system's note to parents said that they were taking the threat seriously but added that the safety of the students and staff was never compromised.
