8 Cancer Causing Foods We Probably Eat Everyday

In this post, I will assume you already know what is cancer. In today's article, we will be talking about 8 Cancer causing foods that we eat almost everyday. Cancer is one of those diseases that loom over a good majority of the population. The cure for Cancer is still not found. Cancer is not the same as Malaria that has its medicine sold in almost all pharmacies. This killer disease is not too common in Africa and it is not because it is believed by many to be a disease for the rich. It is due to what the cancer victims eat. And in this post, we will talk about 8 out of many Cancer causing foods we eat always. Some of us are familiar with almost all the types of Cancer e.g. Breast cancer, prostate cancer, pancreatic cancer, bladder cancer, mouth cancer, brain cancer, blood cancer, skin cancer and more. But in our today's article, we will be talking about Cancer in general. 

To live a life free from Cancer, you should avoid these below foods: 

1.) SODA: Much like other food in the below list, cause cancer when drinking in excess. Although, anything done in excess has its effects, but this is different with Soda. The tasty liquid within those colorful cans are loaded with sugar, food chemicals and coloring, which acidify the body and promote the growth of cancerous cells. Common soda chemicals such as Caramel coloring and its derivative 4-methylimidazole, have both been linked to causing Cancer. Well, if you ask me, drinking more than one per day is quite bad for you. To live a Cancer-free life, you should try stopping the use of soda.

2.) Microwave Popcorn: Yep! You heard me right. Do you like your popcorn in the bag while you munch and watch movies? Unfortunately, those bags are lined with chemicals to ensure the contents or popcorn inside are kept fresh for when they are eaten. These chemicals have not only been found to cause infertility, but also liver cancer, testicular cancer and pancreatic cancer too. The chemical found within the lining of the bag is Perfluorooctanoic  acid. Thanks to research, this chemicals are known to cause tumors in the human body. 



3.) Diet Foods: Stores and the brands that are sold within them try to push a lot of products, especially frozen meals, off as a completely healthy, low-fat option for those on a diet. However, the majority of these diet food tend to dangerous to people's health. These meals are said to worse than conventional sugar-sweetened soda. According to the European Food Safety Authority, aspartame, one of the most commonly used artificial sweeteners, can cause birth defects and cancer too. Also, sucralose, saccharin and other artificial sweeteners can also cause cancer too. 

4.) Refined Sugars: Sugar we all know, that in large quantity is not good for our health. However,  refined sugars have been known to rapidly spike Insulin levels and helps in the growth of cancer cells in the human body. Fructose rich sweeteners like high-fructose like corn syrup have been known to be some of the worst offenders. Cancer cells have been found to appear quickly and easily metabolize to spread throughout the body in those who eat too much refined sugars in their diet. 

5.) Canned Tomatoes: The majority of canned products sold within your local stores or shopping mart are a cause for concern, but canned tomatoes appear to be the worst. The lining in the can that is used to pack your tomato paste is made using a chemical known as Bisphenol-A or BPA. This is highly toxic to the human body and will speed the growth of cancerous cells. However, tomatoes tend to be exceptionally dangerous due to the high levels of acidity within them. This acidity causes the BPA chemical to leech from the can lining and into the food. There are currently no FDA laws that require a company to label BPA. My advice to you is, purchase fresh tomatoes instead.



6.) Farmed Salmon: Salmon fish is one of the healthiest fish you can find, as it is rich in Omega-3 fatty acid. But while shopping for fish in your local store, you should really avoid the farmed Salmon. Unfortunately, over 60% of the Salmon consumed within the United States was raised on a farm specifically built for that purpose. Does it mean this specie of fish is from out of space? No. The reason is that the farmed Salmon are fed with unnatural diets that are full of chemicals, antibiotics, pesticides and other known carcinogens. These animals live in crowded conditions that have been found to have 30 times the number of sea lice than wild Salmon. The chemicals these fish are fed help ensure their flesh is the reddish pink color that should occur naturally, but doesn't. For this reason, these Salmon contain less Omega-3 acid. High level of PCB's, mercury and cancer causing dioxins are found in farmed Salmon. My advice, buy those products with the label that states the fish you are using is wild sockeye Salmon.



7.) Hydrogenated Oils: The truth is, processed foods are really bad for you. This we probably all know. However, it is what is in the processed food that is the problem for most people. These hydrogenated oils are commonly used to preserve processed food and to keep them stable while being stuck on a shelf for long periods of time. These oils tend to alter the structure and integrity of cell membranes within the human body, which tends to lead towards diseases such as cancer. Some manufacturers are already working to remove the usage of hydrogenated oils and replace them with palm oil or other safe  alternative. Vegetable oils tend to contain high levels of Omega-6 fatty acids, of which an excess can cause health problems. A balance must be formed between Omega-3 and Omega-6 for a healthy diet.



8.) Artificial Sweeteners: These tend to be used when people try to lose weight or avoid sugar due to their dietary concerns. Unfortunately, the problem with these alternatives is that those who consume them on a regular basis, such as in Soda or Coffee sweeteners, tend to actually gain weight overall. They also do far little to nothing to help with those suffering from diabetes. In fact, artificial sweeteners tend to make it far more difficult for the body to regulate the blood sugar levels. Aspartame, a chemical found in sweeteners, has been found to cause convulsions in some people. These chemicals are broken down into the body into a deadly toxin known as DKP. So, be careful.
