Do The Dead Really Live Among The Living?

Today's post may sound weird, but there is a lot we need to know about the spirit world and the physical. Despite what is written in the Bible, some Christians are still confused about this. With many weird happenings around, one would be forced to chew on this question about the dead living among the living.

Down here in Nigeria, I have some real live stories about the dead existing among the living. In this post, I will be talking about three incidence that happened in places I know and many attested to it.

STORY 1: This happened in a bar called Bush Bar, in Cross River state, Ikom local government area. In the year 2015 when I attended my elder sister's wedding at Ikom, I heard the story from some locals. I confirmed this from my family living in that small city and they attested to it.

How Did It Happen? There is a well known undertaker in that locality by the name, Oga Emeka. One fateful day, two ladies were involved in a fatal accident. Oga Emeka took the deceased to the mortuary.

In that locality, there is a very popular and busy bar known as Bush Bar. It gets busier in the night. It is more like a night club. That same day, Oga Emeka went to the bar to relax with some bottles of beer. He sighted those girls he had taken to the morgue, as they were dancing with some guys. He quickly took the stage and announced their presence to the crowd. At this announcement, they disappeared before they very eyes of everyone present. Within a minute second, the bar was empty and was desolated for a long time.

STORY 2: This also happened in the same locality, Ikom. I heard both stories the same day.

What's the story?
A woman who had a small retail shop and also sold beer and other drinks, was approached by some unknown young men, who claimed to have been sent by Oga Emeka to come and collect a Crete of beer on credit. Being a popular man, she could not say no. So, she gave them a Crete of beer. But on the evening of that day, Oga Emeka was passing by her shop. So, she asked for her empty Crete and bottles of beer. Oga Emeka was mixed up in all these. But when she explained the whole story to him, he quickly deciphered what had happened. So, he asked her to wait  moment while he went to check the mortuary he takes care of. When they got there, they opened the door to the morgue and saw some empty bottles of beer on the floor, some with empty bottle between armpit, dead man on a dead woman, with sperm on the floor. Till date, the locals who witnessed it, still do not know how to explain it.

STORY 3: This happened in Ogba, Ikeja, Lagos state, in a prophetic church. Early last year, I was a member of that church. But I now attend another church. My colleague at work, who is a member of that church, told me the story. I could not believe the story, not to think of the fact that it happened in a church. So, I asked a different person and she attested to it.

This is how it happened:
In one of their services, a woman who and her husband attended this church for the first time together. The prophet called her out and asked her husband to come out with her. And the prophet asked her, "have you discovered your husband's recent behaviour?. He has been acting strange."

The woman said, "yes sir. His attitude has changed. He is restless and gets angry easily."

And the man of God voiced out, "madam, you are married to a ghost!"

Immediately, her husband disappeared before the very eyes of the congregation, and where he stood, was smoking. The whole church was empty, leaving only the man of God standing in the aisle.

THE BIG QUESTION
Does that mean that the dead are truly living among the living? If you say yes, does that mean Hebrew 9:27 is wrong?

Author's Verdict: The dead do not live among us. There are laws guiding the Spiritual and physical realms. With these laws, demons can't exist without an identity, without a body. There are familiar spirits everywhere. They have your identity, they know what you know and they can do what you can do. But they cannot exist with someone's identity while the person is still alive. Don't forget that no man has a duplicate of himself existing on earth.

Similar thing happened in 1Samuel 28. Prophet Samuel was a great prophet of God. To make matter who, a witch invoked the Spirit of the great prophet of God. How can that be possible. What has light got to do with darkness. The story of the witch of Endor summoning Samuel is recorded in 1 Samuel 28:7-20, the only biblical account of someone being visited by someone who was deceased. Saul, having deprived himself of every legitimate means of spiritual input as a result of his own disobedience and rebellion, walked in foolishness again by seeking out the very resource (a medium) he had previously removed from the land. By divine law, mediums and spiritists were banned from Israel (Deuteronomy 18:11), and Israel was not to be defiled by them (Leviticus 19:31). That the king would stoop to this, indicates how far he had fallen from God’s grace.
The passage does not give us any reason to believe it was anyone other than Samuel, who is described by the medium as “an old man wearing a robe” (v. 14). That was a familiar Spirit at work.

What's your take on this? Do you think the dead truly live among the living?
