Kenya News- Police rescues suspected wizard from angry mob in Mwingi

Witchcraft is still common in some parts of Africa. And in most countries, witches and wizards get killed when caught. This is exactly what would have happened to this suspected wizard if the police had not come to his rescue.

According to report reaching us, the police in Mwingi, rescued an elderly man, suspected of being a wizard, from an angry mob on Sunday.

The man was accosted by locals of Migwani after he scooped soil at the town's terminus in an unclear motive. The elderly man pleads with locals at Migwani who wanted him killed on witchcraft claims, after his hands were tied and a tyre put around his waist and was about to be burnt alive.

Kambas believe that if someone scoops soil from a certain area, there is dark plot by sorcerers against the residents.

The suspected wizard explained to the angry mob that he had been sent by a man only identified as Kasingili.

"Don't set me ablaze. I have been sent by Kasingili from Kaliluni area to collect the soil," he cried out.

Some people from the angry mob asked him to speak of the number of victims he and his masters have killed.

"Sorcerers should not be given chances to live," others shouted.

The officers took the elderly man to Migwani police post for further interrogation.
