Molo Base Commander Moses Nderitu, confirmed the incident and said that the injured person was rushed to Rift Valley Provincial General Hospital in Nakuru.According to a report by Citizen TV, the driver of the truck revealed that the steering wheel system failed leaving him with no choice but to run over them in order to save more lives. Bodies of the deceased were trapped under the track. “We are currently organizing for a breakdown to pull out the trailer that has covered bodies of the deceased,” said Nderitu. This comes just a day after 36 people lost their lives and others critically injured in a freak accident after a bus collided with a truck at the Migaa black-spot on the same Nakuru-Eldoret highway. The impact of accident left the bus in pieces, which indicated the driver was in high speed and could not control the bus maybe due to mechanical hitch. Rift Valley regional coordinator Wanyama Musiambo suggested that the driver must have been asleep while behind the wheel hence losing control of the vehicle before it crashed into the oncoming Lorry. National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA)suspended all night travel by public vehicles following the tragic road accident in which 37 lives were lost December 2017 was a black month considering the fatal road accidents that happened on a nearly daily basis.
